To control your mind and control your temper is something which can be done by everyone. It does sound easy, isn’t it? But to really do it may be difficult. Many people want to be in control of their mind power but find it very hard to do so. You would need the will to really want to change and recognize the fact that being bad temper is harmful to you both in the physical and psychological sense. What’s more, you would definitely leave a bad impression to those who know you. Hence, it is both important and necessary to learn how to control your temper effectively.

Just like any ordinary day, I had just completed my shopping list and was in the queue waiting for my turn to pay for the items. But today, there was something different.

“I was here first and you cut the queue!” One of the ladies behind me snorted.

“No, you are the one who cut my queue, I was here before you!” The other lady shouted back.

The heated argument ended with one of the ladies slamming her packet of sugar on the counter before walking away furiously, leaving the other lady behind feeling extremely crossed.

I thought of giving up my turn to let them pay first but eventually decided not to because there is still a question as in who would take my place. After finally paying my items, I left with a few questions flowing through my mind.

1. How much time can one lose to wait for another person to pay?
2. Why get so crossed for that few minutes and lost all your happiness for that same period of time?
3. What have one gain by being so particular about being the first in the queue to pay?
4. Why make yourself look so bad in public?
5. Is such bad manner the cause of bad parenting and upbringing?

In most cases, a person would tend to regret after getting so exasperated at something that is so inconsequential. I bet at least one of the two ladies should be feeling bad right now. So how can someone start controlling one’s temper by using the mind power?

Let say if another person has just done something which seems to have got in your nerves and you think your blood is beginning to boil. Now what most people usually will do is burst with anger and start behaving wrathfully and unreasonably. And to do that is just to act on impulse and I believe in most cases would only make the whole situation worse and more unpleasant.

Train your mind to give a second thought before acting. Think about all the negative outcomes from losing your temper now and the likely consequences that follow. Always remind yourself that there is absolutely nothing to gain when you are acting with rage. I don’t mean contemplating but at least just a few seconds can really make a lot of difference.

When you give yourself more time, you will become calmer and as such you will be in a better position to see a clearer picture and deal with the problem more effectively. When you have foreseen the negative consequences of being furious, you are in a way changing your focus. When your focus is no longer on what got in your nerves, you anger will naturally subside.

I personally feel that to control your mind so as to control your temper is the most effective way. When you train yourself to do this, you are in way conditioning yourself to behave this way whenever you feel your blood is beginning to boil. Ultimately, your control becomes a habit which is part of your nature and very soon, those who know you will stop associating you with a hot head. You just have to remind yourself that it is all a matter of how strong your power of mind is. Make it a goal to make some changes to yourself from today!

How to change yourself to better achieve your goals? You have changed physically and that can be seen by many; you have become more matured and that too cannot be denied but are you still thinking, perceiving and analyzing things the same old way? Most probably you are. Those who affected you the most when you were kids; your parents, teachers and friends, could have influenced you and affected your beliefs and values which in turn affect your thinking and decision making. So if you are wondering why you are nowhere near your dreams, take a look at this article and gain some insight of what has actually happened and how you are going to change yourself almost instantly.

Are you afraid of changing, making major decision, taking up challenge or even dating someone you adore? These fears which are uncalled for can be the factors which hinder your progress towards achieving your dreams.

You are afraid of change because you may have placed a lot of values on security. You are in your comfort zone and are just unwilling to see any changes. Why are you behaving this way? Well, someone who was or is important in your life may have passed such ideas to you and influenced you greatly on perceiving life this way. I am not saying that fear of change is wrong and in fact there is no right and wrong in thinking that way, but in order for you to bring yourself a step further than you are now, you have to take that first step to get out of that comfort zone to reach your goals.

You are afraid of making major decisions because you may have seen someone important in your life did just that and regretted, or you may even have experienced that yourself before. You are afraid of challenges because you have the fear of failure. You are afraid of dating the opposite sex because you have been rejected before. The reasons can go on and on but what all these have shown was the beliefs and values which have been in you for all these years to prevent you from progressing. So make it a point to change your beliefs from today! Remember, it is all a matter of how strong your power of mind is!

To make decisions about doing or not doing certain things can determine your success in life.  Have you ever wonder why some people have it all? And why is it that you aren’t just cut out for it? Yes indeed, if you think you really cannot do it, you are most probably right. “How discouraging and cruel!” you may think, but don’t get me wrong for saying that.

Most of us just don’t have the confident to do something which we have never tried in our life because we do not have any experience to fall back on and they do not have a strong mind power. And as such, when we don’t have any confident and courage to even tried it, we are already beginning to fail.

Undeniably, life isn’t a bed of roses. There are many decisions to make, both the simple and difficult ones. The difficult ones are those which are always giving you the hard time to decide. And when you cannot decide, you wait for another day to make that decision. We call this procrastination. When you are procrastinating, you will not be able to achieve your goals.

Procrastination is undesirable and almost always kills your dreams. By the time you have really decide, your golden chance may have been grabbed by another person and you would find yourself being passed again.

How to make decision about anything? Below are three simple tips you may like to apply before making great decisions.

1. Pro and Cons
Take a short while to see the future. What if you have decided and succeeded in whatever you do. Ask yourself some of the following questions.
• “What will I gain?”
• “Are those which I’ve gained what I have long for?”
• “How will these gains benefit family and me?”
What happen if you’ve make a wrong decision? What will that cost you?
• “What will I lose?”
• “Can I afford the lost?”
• “How will my family and I be affected by the failure?”
• “Am I causing any harm to anyone in the process of doing this?”
There are many questions you can consider prior to balance up before deciding. If you see that pros are more than cons, you can be more assured and make that decision.

2. Develop your Confidence
There are some decisions you fear to make due to the lack of confidence. You think you just cannot do it while at the same time you want to do it. So what are you going to do? Take for instant a new job which is totally different from what you have been into, you may feel incompetent but at the same time, you need that job. Well, what you are supposed to do is to develop your confidence by gaining the experience of doing it in the fastest way. You can do by either learning from someone who has the relevant experience or by reading more about it; it can be learnt through books or internet. Reading can give you a lot of insight to a lot of things.

3. Be positive
Wouldn’t you agree with me that there are some decisions which we just cannot make? There are simply too many issues making it too complicated to make a smart decision. Well, you can first try to break the issues to parts and deal with them individually or second, make your decision with positive thinking.

When you are positive about the outcome, you have an aim to succeed by doing whatever it takes. What this means is that once you’ve decided, go for it wholehearted and with full force. There is no U-turn and no looking back. Repeatedly tell yourself that you will only accept success and nothing else. You have to make full use of your power of mind if you really want to attain success in life!

You can make decisions about anything in your life as long as you are sure you can do it. Taking donkey years to make one decision will not only let golden opportunity slips away, but also reflects very badly on you. Nobody can constantly make the right decisions. There were times when we made the wrong decisions. What is done cannot be undone so why regret? When wrong decisions are made, take them as valuable lessons learnt and move on.

“Mind over body!” This was the phrase that I used to hear from my superiors while having my long distance run during my national service in army. What the phrase meant was to use my mind to control my physical body. How? By focusing on the finishing line and how fast I would be reaching the spot, my mind in a way got my body going even though I might not have that kind of stamina. Yes, the mind is indeed powerful and it can be powerful in many other areas other than a long distance jog. However, mind power is useful only when you believe in it and know how to use it.

1. Believe in the Power Of Mind
Can a skeptical person make good use of something he or she doesn’t believe in? No and never! When you do not have the belief in the power of mind, naturally you won’t have any confidence in it, let alone testing it out. Only when you believe in it and recognize its existence will the rest of the techniques work.

2. Fill Your Mind With Positive Thoughts Only
How can you be striving towards your dream when your mind is constantly complaining and moaning? When your mind keep on telling you that you don’t have what it takes to succeed, you will soon lose the confidence in yourself and ultimately give up. Hence, fill your mind with only positive thoughts; thoughts which give you the happiness, confidence and energy. We can be facing with problems almost everyday and instead of complaining about it or evading it; we take them up as challenges which we believe strongly can be deal with easily and confidently.

3. Develop Affirmations
Always comes up with positive statements about yourself.  For instance, if you are into sales and to develop your self-confidence in this line, you may come up with a statement like ‘I am going to be the top salesperson.” Constantly repeat the statement a few times a day to yourself and in no time, you will feel the power arising in you.

4. Set and visualize your goals
I emphasize a lot on setting clear goals and visualize them constantly. When you know very clearly where you are heading and hence your progress, it gives you that sense of accomplishment and the motivation to go on. Constantly visualize your dreams like you are looking into the future and your mind will start to pick it up as real. When all seems so real, your mind gets you to work towards your dream industriously. This is how great your mind power is.

No matter what kind of dreams you have, they can be accomplished with the use of your mind power. You must believe in the power of your mind prior to applying the rest of the effective techniques to unleashed you great mind power.

“If only I have an extra hour everyday!” You lamented at the tons of job waiting to be done. Your time management is a mess and you think time is not on your side. But yet you are not prepared to complain about being overloaded to your superior and you think your colleagues would think low of you if you do so.

In addition, you have this fear of loosing your chance of getting promoted and even worst, your job. As such, you continue to bite the bullet and try in vain to complete those uncompleted projects even at the expense of your family and health. Now, is that what you want in life? Is that all about life? Is it worthwhile?

No, no and no! You are suffering because your beliefs are not appropriate. There is absolutely nothing wrong about having a job to feed your family or for yourself. And there is nothing wrong about your worry of loosing the sense of security. But you are wrong about biting off more than you can chew which in a way ruin your time management.

When you spend too much of your time in work, the time allocated for the rest like your family, health, hobby, friends, to mention just a few will naturally be lesser. What is unhealthy about spending less time on them is the high tendency of problems arising. Your spouse or kids may get distanced from you, your health may be affected, and your life may become dull without any hobby and friend.

So what can you do? Below are some simple tips to help you manage your time better.

1. Talk to your superior
You may not be aware but most likely your superior won’t know your problems. Being at a higher post, your superior has more responsibilities and job scope to manage, so he is not likely to take notice of what is happening to you. If your superior has a busy schedule, book an appointment with him or her to discuss about your work.

Never air your problems to your superior like a complaint. Emotions like frustration and anguish should not be brought into your discussion. Lay out your problems clearly so as to let him or her have a clearer picture. Make sure you put across to him or her that the overloaded works hinder your progression. If possible, suggest some solutions to your problems and make it clear that it will definitely raise your productivity if more breathing space is given.

2. The Power of Focus
Focus includes planning out your daily schedule. Work out what you have to be completed by the end of the day. Your schedule has to be realistic so that you can finishes your work of the day with quality and not haphazardly.

When focusing, try cutting out all interruption. I do understand that answering phone calls and emails are routine works and have to be done. Being routine works, these jobs can wait till you’ve completed the more important works on hand. When the focus is there, jobs can be completeled very easily. Just make use of your power of mind to stay on task!

3. Life is not all about security
Not all bosses are angels. What if your superior isn’t doing anything to help you? Are you going to continue biting the bullet? Why not take this period to contemplate about who you want to be in the future? Isn’t it a dream comes true if you could earn your living by working on something you love? May it be starting your own business, working from home or any other jobs which you’ve great interest in; you should take this golden opportunity to fulfill your dream. set your goals to make that dream come true.

Time management works well only when you have proper planning and good focus. And proper planning and good focus are possible only when you are not overloaded with too many projects on hand. Although multi-tasking is necessary in the modern world of business, to take on too many projects at a time can only lower your productivity.
