How To Build a Career Based on Your Passions?

We’ve all known people who seem to be a perfect fit for their jobs or their careers. Not only are they successful but enjoy what they’re doing with a passion. We’ve also known people who are successful but hate what they’re doing with a passion. What’s the difference? Which category do you fall in?

If your prime motivation is the bottom line then maybe it doesn’t make any difference as long as you’re making money and providing for you and your family a desirable lifestyle.
But, if you long for a job or career you can love and do with a passion then it may be a little more difficult.

True, some people just fall into their lifelong passion with little or no trouble at all. Maybe they grew up in the family business, never knew anything else or cared to learn anything else and found contentment staying close to the nest. However, this is not the norm. Most of us seek to fly out of the comfortable nest and fly over the fence to see if the grass is greener.

It’s never too early or too late to discover your passions and act on them but first determine what you’re passionate about. When you understand your own passions (and this is not easy matter) a whole new world of possibilities opens up.

Step back and take a close look at where you are now and what brought you there. Perhaps, you’re a plumber but long to travel. More than likely you’ll make more money being a plumber, but if you’re not happy each day and dread going to work, then the bottom line is not your motivating factor. See, you’re learning about yourself already.

Look at your passions from all angles. In the case of travel, is it really the travel you love or is it exploring new lands and meeting new people. You could meet new people and make new friends in all kinds of endeavors.

Meeting lots of people as a plumber is usually limited. Maybe you enjoy making travel plans and scheduling cruises and flights which could lead to a travel or tour business. It’s important to search your passions from different directions.

What you think your passions are could be just admiration of others who do what you think you would like to do. Would you like to become a writer but hate to sit down to a computer and write?

Do you admire a person who makes birdhouses for a living but you hate to be cooped up in a wood shop all day? Don’t confuse your passion with admiration. And be prepared for the realization that doing what you love will not always put bread on the table.

You can bet people who are working at whatever their passion spent long hours to get where they are today. But, if it’s truly your passion, getting there will be a joy. Explore your passions whether they’re a love of animals, gardening or photography and take these passions to the next step.

Learn all you can about your passion. Take a class or a course, volunteer or intern in the field you love. See where the path leads. It could lead you right back to where you were in the first place but you owe it to yourself to find out. Enjoy the journey.

Neither should you be too hard on yourself for the mistake you had done.

1. Seeking Professional Assistance
You may be surprise at my first piece of advice but if you discover that you are indeed suffering from low self worth, you should seek assistance from professional therapists right away.  The reason being you will have an excellent avenue that allows you to re-evaluate any negativity or ill opinions you may have about yourself. These professional therapists will be able to help you re-discover yourself and gain back your self worth.

In addition, the professional therapist will also be able to guide you towards more active participation in social events. Taking part in social events is important because it helps you to build up your confidence in mixing around with others. When you slowly learn to make choices in what activities are beneficial for you, you will start to love yourself more and pay more attention to your own personal needs. You can also reward yourself each time you have successfully achieve some advancement in gaining self worth, for instance, when you have done well in an examination or completed a task on your own, reward yourself with something that you like. Do not be too harsh on yourself.

2. Maintaining A Healthy Lifestyle
Apart from seeking professional assistance, the next thing you should do is to maintain a healthy lifestyle. By this, I mean you should ensure that you eat more healthy food, exercise more for a healthy body and have sufficient sleep in order to effectively use your mind power. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a vital step towards showing appreciation for your body.

Once you know that you are looking after yourself, you will slowly start to feel good about yourself and your self esteem will improve over time. In addition, you will also have more energy to take part in social activities and that will in turn help you to gain more confidence in yourself as you will be able to enjoy yourself more.

3. Meeting Your Own Needs
If you had the habit of putting others’ wants before your own needs, it is time you stop doing that! I am not suggesting that you should stop others but before you do so, stop to consider if by helping others you will have to forgo your own needs. Make sure you help others only after you have showered the necessary attention on yourself.

4. Active Participation In Activities
If you want to improve in your self esteem, you need to make a conscious effort to take part in events that you enjoy. Encourage yourself to try out new things because only by doing so will you discover what you enjoy doing. If you find that you do not like the activity, you can drop it and try something else till you find something that you like.

However, that does not mean that you hop from activity to activity just because you face some problems such as finding a friend at the event. Drop it only if you really do not like it. Who knows, you might find that you actually have a talent that you have not discovered!

Backstabbers, gossipers, complainers, naggers, people with negative thoughts, people who think that the world owes them a living and many other bad influences which you should not get near. These negative influences can affect your self-esteem and self-improvement plan.

2. Avoid Unhealthy Working Environment
Unless we are living in an opposite world, everyone wants to win and get ahead of everyone else. If you are into an unhealthy competition with your colleagues, most of you will be taking care of your own well-being and future. Who will ever spend the time and spare the thought for others, let alone being appreciative of what you might have done for them. In the worse case scenario, they might even play office politics and backstab you. Stay out of such unhealthy competition as it will only ruin your energy and self-esteem.

Compete only when it is a healthy competition where everyone is motivating everyone else in the company.

Everyone feels depressed now and then and most people would rather feel joyous than feel sad. It is a fact of life up and down times will come. A person needs to realize that attitude will help overcome the times that do not feel uplifting and that attitude will certainly help a person come a long way towards becoming happy again.

A person can be as happy as they want to be. There are many children in hospitals that have debilitating diseases that have wonderful attitudes toward life. Can you appreciate what you have thinking about that reality? What is the worse thing that could happen with the sudden influence of the sad event about which you are worrying? Whatever the worse thing that you can imagine, there is always a positive way to overcome it.

When a person wakes up every morning, why not take time just to thank God for your breath, thank Him for the whole day to cherish and for the fact that there are those who love and appreciate your existence. From this humble beginning, a person can start to feel God’s love and tenderness and value themselves as an individual.

Maybe there is a certain item that is valuable to the inner spirit that always brings up your thankfulness when gazed on. A dozen silk yellow roses in a basket is a constant reminder that someone cared. Looking on them every morning when waking makes the day more special. If there is an item in your life that cheers, place it where it is seen first thing on waking.

Try to have a plan for the day and work the plan. No matter if it is unique to you, business, or a homemaker’s schedule, the time is important and needs to be valued. Keeping busy is a great way to make the blues disappear and to accomplish a whole lot of chores and features that make life worth living. A disciplined lifestyle seems to become attractive for everyone in that their lives have a purpose and style and others notice and appreciate their talents. You can also make use of your power of mind to attain discipline in life.

Take care of your attitude and spirit daily and when the time comes that a situation might seem to start to overwhelm, that is the time your goodness will bubble up and help to raise your spirits. Only a positive attitude can make up for the doubts and poor thoughts that often come to a person. With a positive mindset, you will then be able to achieve your dreams. Have faith and willingness to just live the day through and know that the power above takes the time to shield your spirit.

Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life

Do you feel overwhelmed with the numerous tasks that you have to accomplish each day? Do you feel that you have no control over the events happening to you and hope that there is an easy answer to “how to change your life”? You may be surprise to learn that you can easily change your life if you have a positive mental attitude. Once you learn how to change your perspective, you will be able to accomplish your goals successfully and without facing much difficulty.

All of us want to attain happiness and freedom. We want to spend more time with the people we love but at the same time, we need to ensure that our goals are achieved. Very often, this is at the expense of our relationship with our loved ones. For example, we want to attain financial freedom so that we can spend more time with our family members. However, we do not feel confident that we can achieve what we want because we have lots of debts that we are unable to clear. As such, we are telling our subconscious mind that we cannot achieve our goals and we will feel unhappy. Unfortunately, this then becomes a repeated cycle of failure.

It does not have to be that way because we can achieve what we want as long as we have a positive mindset. Before you learn how to change your life, you have to first get rid of your negative thoughts as how a man thinks is what he will become. Therefore, from now onwards, you have to plant positive thoughts in your minds and to immediately discard anything negative that creeps in. By negative, I do not only refer to thoughts and distractions but to negative input by the people around you as well.

You might feel that it is not easy to remain focus on your positive thoughts but I will show you 5 ways below in which you can easily apply in your daily life to promote a positive attitude. Don’t just read the information, work on them and you will learn how to change your life with your attitude.

1. Visualization
By visualization, I am referring to picturing your success in your mind. Think about what you want to accomplish, how you are going to accomplish it as well as the emotions you will experience when you finally attain success. This will help your subconscious mind to understand your goals and work towards achieving it.

2. Convincing your mind
You should carry out your visualization practices every morning. This is so that your subconscious mind starts to believe that your goal is already a reality. If your mind believes that it is a reality, you will have more confidence of your ultimate success in achieving your goals.

3. Pen down your goals in black and white
Writing down your goals on paper will ensure that you will not forget about them. You should also take it out to read to yourself every night before you sleep and every morning before you start your day. Reading it before sleeping will help your subconscious mind to work on bringing a positive change in your attitude the following day while reading it in the morning will get you prepared to work on your goal for that day. As such, it is vital that you make it into a habit and repeat the pattern every day.

4. Feed your subconscious mind with the right food
Your subconscious mind will absorb what you feed it with. Therefore, you must only give it positive thoughts and instructions on what you want to achieve. All negative input must be driven out of your mind immediately to prevent it from contaminating your mind!

5. Share your positive thoughts
In order for your own positive self esteem to grow, you should share your own success stories with the people around you. Spread your positive attitude and the people around you will also become more positive in their thoughts. As such, you will receive more positive input from them too. It thus becomes a cycle whereby over time you will find yourself surrounded by lots of positive energies and you will attain more successes in life.

So you can see that we definitely have the potential to achieve more in life when you get rid of negative thoughts and plant positive thoughts in your mind instead. Start developing your positive mental attitude now and you will soon be attracting only the positive energies. Very soon, you will no longer have to wonder “how to change your life” because you will realize that you can easily achieve anything you want with your positive attitude!

Many aspects of your environment are out of your control; what you can control is your reaction and relationship to them. In other words, learn where the currents run, learn where the obstacles are, and learn to go with the flow or steer clear of the rapids. Unleash your mind power and you can achieve greater success in life.

Here are 5 actions you can take to either work with or avoid obstacles that tear down your self-confidence.

1. Learn to identify your skills and strengths. Don’t fall prey to thinking that the solutions to your confidence issues are outside yourself. Understand that everyone has a talent, something that makes him or her unique and special. Know what yours is and learn to use it.

2. If you want to be a winner, learn to hang out with winners. If you find yourself surrounded by whiners, complainers, slackers, gossipers, backstabbers and patronizers, balance the time you absolutely MUST spend with them with equal or more time spent with positive, energetic, supportive, successful, and honest people.

3. Start practicing positive self-talk. What’s that, you ask? It can be many things, such as allowing someone to compliment you by being grateful and accepting it gracefully. Believe that you truly deserve it. Positive self-talk can be replacing the negative tapes that run through your mind with positive ones. Do you find yourself thinking “I could never lose as much weight as she did”, or, “I always try to think of something creative to offer in meetings but I never can”, or, “I’ll never be able to make friends as easily as he does”? You create your reality with your thoughts and words so choose them carefully.

4. Set realistic goals and take time to celebrate when you reach them. Don’t set the bar too high or you’ll be disappointed and lose motivation to try again. And even if you do fail, take the time to figure out what you did wrong and plan for success the next time.

5. Find your voice and use it. Finding your voice means saying what you need to say. It can be expressing unrequited love, asking the question everyone is afraid to ask, asking for help, asking someone to stop criticizing you, telling a joke, writing a letter to the editor, or placing a classified ad. Saying what you need to say isn’t about getting what you want. Your question may not be answered, the criticism may continue, or no one may laugh at your joke.

Saying what you need to say may mean hearing yourself for the very first time. You can evaluate your own reaction and take your next step based on how having finally expressed yourself makes you feel. If you ask for the criticism to stop and it doesn’t, you may feel empowered enough to leave the relationship or quit your job.

Finding your voice means being honest with yourself and portraying yourself honestly to others; it means engaging the human community in dialog, opening yourself up to hearing someone else say “me too!” and it means honoring your truth. Speaking out can help someone else avoid your lack of self-confidence or pain, and it allows others to share it.

By following these 5 steps, you can find joy, peace and courage. In order to change your life, first you need to acknowledge what needs changing. Then and only then can you take your place in the world with confidence. Make full use of your mind power and you will be pleasantly surprised!
