How To Build a Career Based on Your Passions?

We’ve all known people who seem to be a perfect fit for their jobs or their careers. Not only are they successful but enjoy what they’re doing with a passion. We’ve also known people who are successful but hate what they’re doing with a passion. What’s the difference? Which category do you fall in?

If your prime motivation is the bottom line then maybe it doesn’t make any difference as long as you’re making money and providing for you and your family a desirable lifestyle.
But, if you long for a job or career you can love and do with a passion then it may be a little more difficult.

True, some people just fall into their lifelong passion with little or no trouble at all. Maybe they grew up in the family business, never knew anything else or cared to learn anything else and found contentment staying close to the nest. However, this is not the norm. Most of us seek to fly out of the comfortable nest and fly over the fence to see if the grass is greener.

It’s never too early or too late to discover your passions and act on them but first determine what you’re passionate about. When you understand your own passions (and this is not easy matter) a whole new world of possibilities opens up.

Step back and take a close look at where you are now and what brought you there. Perhaps, you’re a plumber but long to travel. More than likely you’ll make more money being a plumber, but if you’re not happy each day and dread going to work, then the bottom line is not your motivating factor. See, you’re learning about yourself already.

Look at your passions from all angles. In the case of travel, is it really the travel you love or is it exploring new lands and meeting new people. You could meet new people and make new friends in all kinds of endeavors.

Meeting lots of people as a plumber is usually limited. Maybe you enjoy making travel plans and scheduling cruises and flights which could lead to a travel or tour business. It’s important to search your passions from different directions.

What you think your passions are could be just admiration of others who do what you think you would like to do. Would you like to become a writer but hate to sit down to a computer and write?

Do you admire a person who makes birdhouses for a living but you hate to be cooped up in a wood shop all day? Don’t confuse your passion with admiration. And be prepared for the realization that doing what you love will not always put bread on the table.

You can bet people who are working at whatever their passion spent long hours to get where they are today. But, if it’s truly your passion, getting there will be a joy. Explore your passions whether they’re a love of animals, gardening or photography and take these passions to the next step.

Learn all you can about your passion. Take a class or a course, volunteer or intern in the field you love. See where the path leads. It could lead you right back to where you were in the first place but you owe it to yourself to find out. Enjoy the journey.

Are you afraid of change and trying out new things? If you are, do you know why? Is there any past bad experience you had which deter you from taking up challenges and missing out all those rare golden opportunities? Well, if you just too afraid of taking that first step, you should just need to take some time to digest the idea that all things happen to you with a purpose.

By allowing yourself to be overcast by the shadow of your past failures will only deny you from achieving what you should deserve in this life. Treat all negative past experiences as your self improvement lessons so that you will become wiser when coming to your next attempt to achieve your dreams.

So what does self improvement going to do with achieving your dream? Well, to be successful in life, you need to have what it takes. And with that, I mean you must have those great personalities in you to walk through the uneven path towards your dream. Hence, self improvement is one essential quality you must have to develop those great personalities in you.

1. Self-esteem
You need to develop high self esteem in thyself in order to believe in yourself. Past failures are simply some great lessons learnt and you should be moving on with your adventures. You can only expect others to have the confidence in you only when you have the self-confidence in yourself.

2. Be Positive
How can someone with a negative mindset be successful in his endeavors? Yes, you may still be successful with a negative mindset but you need a lot, and I mean a lot, of luck. Stay positive in facing all challenges in life and believe in yourself that you can do it if you want to. Everyone has problems and this is a fact.

The only difference is how you view them and how you are going to deal with them. A person who sees problems positively is actually having a higher chance to solve his or her problem more easily as he or she doesn’t waste the precious time in worrying and complaining.

3. Self-motivation
With great positive mindset, you should develop that self-motivation in you so that your energy will not run out. Are you waking up every morning feeling excited and can’t wait to start your day? Or are you someone who has to force yourself up and drag yourself to work?

Yes, that is one difference between a person with self-motivation and a person without any. When you have the motivation, you will develop that passion in you to get you job done. You will not be focusing on the tons of “work” waiting for you to complete, but you will be concentrating on the end results that you will bring about.

4. Goal Setting
If you have a dream, set your goal to achieve it. With all the enthusiasm in you but without a goal, you will only end up hitting against a wall. Set your goal very clearly and set the time as in when you are going to achieve it, then you are all well prepared to set out the journey to achieving your dream.

It takes you some effort, time and great self improvement personalities to achieve your dream. Don’t ever hope that you may one day be attaining overnight success. It will only happen if you are talking about lottery but I suppose we shouldn’t define that as being successful. There are indeed many areas where self improvement is concern and I cannot be possibly mentioning each and every one of them here or this article will become a book. So, start today to explore through the world of self improvement so as to increase your speed towards achieve your dream in life.

If your dream is to be successful in life, you are not alone. Many people have dreams and want to achieve their dreams one day. They work at fulfilling their dreams and bought numerous self improvement books to help them succeed in life. However, not many of them really make it through and even fewer are able to maintain their successes. Are we all missing out on some vital links that can connect us to success or have we been left out of some top secrets?

The truth is, there really isn’t any secret to attaining success in life. The one vital point that prevented many of us from attaining success is setting goals and staying committed to our goals! If you are not married to your goals, you will not stick with it long enough to see the end results. This is when you need to make full use of your power of mind in order to achieve success!

It is not enough to simply set your goals and leave them there. You have to love your goals and stay committed to them, much like how you would love and stick with your spouse once both of them got married. Without sticking to your goals, you will not be able to stay focus and will only end up jumping from one project to the next without waiting for the first one to complete.

As such, you will remain unsuccessful and lots of incomplete projects! Any self improvement experts will tell you that loving your goals will keep you motivated and committed so it will keep you going but your goals must also not be so small that you do not see the point in accomplishing them. Set goals that are big so that you will want to enjoy your dreams at the end of it.

Do not be afraid to set goals that may seem too big for you to achieve them. As long as it is what you want to get out of life, go for it. However, be persistent in striving towards what you want regardless of how difficult it may seem at the beginning. Condition your mind into believing that you can achieve your goals and you will soon get used to working on the actions you have planned. There are in fact many who have given up even before they get started, so you need a lot of self discipline to see you through.

You will not give up on your partner before you even married him but he must definitely be someone worth marrying in the first place. Similarly, set goals that you feel are worthwhile achieving, otherwise you will tend to give up along the way. You must ensure that your goals include all things that you really want in life so you will be proud of attaining them when you are really successful.

Having said that, you must also take into considerations the achievability of your goals. Do not set goals that you know will be impossible to achieve unless you strike lottery! By that, I am referring to setting goals to achieve a million dollars in a month or less. You know that sort of goals are almost impossible to achieve and your mind will not work towards getting that. Instead, you should set long term goals for yourself.

Write down on paper what you want to achieve in the future, say 5 years. Then go on to set goals on what you want to achieve in the short term, for example, 3 years, 1 year, 6 months and then 1 month. Setting short term goals are just as vital because that will take you a step closer to attaining long term goals.

Once you have your goals in place, the next important thing to do is to work at achieving these goals. Remember, in order to be successful at self improvement, you must be committed to working hard to achieve your goals. Follow the above mentioned tips and success will be yours very soon.
